Crief Farm is situated just north of Wass on the south-facing slopes below Wass Moor, and is within the North York Moors National Park. It has the advantage of relative isolation with reasonable accessibility. Ampleforth Abbey, another Benedictine monastery, is nearby. There is also a visual relationship with Byland Abbey
The site is divided into two by the step-sided gully of Crief Gill and consists of the main farmhouse, some agricultural buildings, nine Scandinavian lodges, a 'coach house' and some barns. The site area is 56 acres, most of which are currently let to a local farmer on a grazing tenancy.
